Set your availability
A calendar in the portal shows the dates you can work and the states you are licensed in. Assignments are matched to it.
Review and accept assignments
Each assignment comes as a written confirmation with the rate, guaranteed hours, call and premium rates, travel and lodging terms, and dates. Accept it in the portal with a click.
Work, log hours, get paid
Enter hours in the portal or by text link. The facility approves them, and pay statements follow on a regular schedule with expenses and stipends included.
What a locum assignment pays attention to
The rate is the first question and rarely the deciding one. What makes an assignment worth taking is the guaranteed hours, whether call is paid separately, how travel and lodging are handled, whether the credentialing is done for you, and whether someone answers the phone when a shift changes. Every MedStaff assignment confirmation states those terms before you commit, and cancellation and early-termination rules are written into the agreement so there are no surprises.

- You join the MedStaff Locum Tenens bench with a short application. A coordinator reviews it personally, and if it is a fit you get access to the provider portal to complete your profile and upload credentials once. From then on, assignments matching your specialty, licenses, and availability are presented to you, and you accept or decline each one in the portal.
- Is malpractice covered on locum assignments?
- Yes. Professional liability coverage is provided for every assignment, and the certificate of insurance goes to the facility with your credentialing file.
- Who handles credentialing and licensing?
- We do. Your credentials are verified once and kept current in the portal, with reminders before any license, DEA registration, or board certificate expires. The credentialing file for each facility is assembled and delivered by our team.
- How are locum physicians paid?
- By hours worked at the rate on your assignment confirmation, with travel and lodging arranged or reimbursed per the assignment terms. You enter hours in the portal or by text link, the facility approves them, and pay statements are issued on a regular schedule.
